So my deep unforgiving attitude towards Macchiato happened on this day which was supposed to be very exciting day. My brother bought tickets to go to Disney on Ice with his gf, but they had an anime thing to go to instead, so he gave the tickets to me.
Gave... as in, I owe him dinner still, but it's all good! I've never been to Disney on Ice before, even as a kid... been missing out all these years, gotta catch up somehow.

We went there early (All Phones Arena!) to take a look at the stalls, and there were so many products, one can't help but feel the atmosphere! Lots of cotton candy, mouse hats and crushed ices in cute cups like this one.

Hugeass popcorn buckets!

The actual show was OK actually, I don't think I appreciate it nearly as much as the kids these days.

I guess my ideal form of Disney consists mainly of classics, like Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Lady and the Tramp... the older cartoons. Not saying I don't like Toy Story (or even those that I haven't watched before, like Princess and the Frog), but I did enjoy the scenes with the classic characters rather than the newer ones.
Funny thing is, the second half of the show was more "educational", so they showed Lilo and Stitch in "Hawaii", Mulan in "China", and for some reason, there was a Japanese scene too, where they used Utada Hikaru's song... but horribly covered in English =( Didn't do the song nearly enough justice.
Still, the show was quite good, thanks Icie for the tickets! :D

Anyway, the rest of this post is going to be absolutely FILLED with macaroons.
From 120___07 |
Burnt vanilla bean!

A favourite: salted caramel

Yea, no surprise where these come from. Realised The Star was actually walkable from Townhall, it's actually really close! I always thought you need to catch the monorail there...

It's been a while though, and we went back twice to get two batches of macaroons. The flavors do change, but some remain the same due to popularity.

I can't remember the flavour anymore.. butter caramel or something.
From 120___07 |
Popping candy in the filling!

I remember this one! It's peach lemon tea, which tasted surprisingly very much like Lipton's! FL would have liked this. Went back and it wasn't there anymore though, must have been one of those rotated flavors.

See the first one there hidden in the box? It was popcorn flavor, SO good. It's really actually just crushed popcorn coated, but I really liked it.

Scenery at the back because if you just walk out from The Star, there's a park with many benches facing the... sea... ocean... river... whatever it is.

Second round! Day was perfect, look at the blue sky (and the blue glittering macaroon!)

I don't really like the name "zumbarons", but at least he's making a name for himself in the world of Macaroons.

I remember the kumquat flavor ones, which was so strong. I used to dislike orange flavor. I love oranges and orange juice, don't get me wrong, but when it comes to artificial flavors like in candy or soft drinks, I tend to avoid. I used to hate marmalade too, but now I don't mind marmalade and this macaroon wasn't bad. I still avoid orange candy though.

My very own attempt! Unfortunately, this was the first batch and it FAILED. It was all good during the process (as usual, it's the same as my croissant attempt, everything goes well till the end) but everything stuck to the baking paper. Either it's cos the paper was too old (I don't even remember when we got it, years ago perhaps) and wasn't non-stick anymore, or something... it was horrible =( seeing them all looking so cute and nice on the paper, but being unable to get them off.
Hopped onto ebay and got silicon mats instead, which I used in my second macaroon attempt. Worked great... learnt from mistakes! Won't be baking on baking paper again =_=

Yeah, someone sent hikki the link and she commented..

I can't believe she wasn't told that they were going to use her song! If she had written the lyrics AND sung it too, it would have been a lot better....
Maybe she's still not in good standing with her international publisher after she told everyone not to buy her "Best Of" album because there weren't any new songs in it.
